When Should I Start Seeking Therapy?

Your relationship shouldn’t cause you to feel stressed, anxious or wondering if this is “as good as it gets”. If you’ve ever asked yourself “Why Do I Keep Ending up in Negative Relationships”, it’s because it’s become a familiar pattern that you’ve now learned to expect less than you actually deserve. Therapy can help you understand and unlearn negative patterns that keep you stuck in relationships that feel unfulfilling, process previous relational trauma such as narcissistic abuse or abandonment issues, and develop more self-awareness and confidence to build healthier attachment styles and relationship security.

  • People are not naturally anxious in relationships; this is something that is learned. Which luckily means that it can be unlearned!

However, here is what it might look or feel like:

    • Becoming hyper stressed or overwhelmed when any argument or disagreement comes up

    • Constantly seeking reassurance

    • Trying to be everything you think your partner needs to prove your “value”

    • Depending on one another for even the simplest tasks

    • Neglecting friendships and family members to spend more time together

    • Abandoning your own hobbies and interests to maintain priority in your partner’s eyes

  • This is a myth that is keeping you stuck in unhealthy thought patterns.

Spoiler Alert: Everyone is deserving of a happy, healthy relationship.

And we can achieve that together! By unlearning past negative patterns, processing previous relationship trauma and supporting you in identifying your needs so that you can find the right relationship rather than giving up altogether.

  • The answer is that it truly depends! If you’re looking to get back into dating after coming out of an abusive relationship because you’re concerned about staying on track with your “timeline” and not knowing how to be alone, then therapy might be right for you!

However, therapy takes time and unlearning past behaviors and thought patterns isn’t easy. If you’re in a “rush” to fix these issues, then therapy probably won’t work for you. If you’re willing to commit to the time it takes to find the right relationship and get out of your own way, then let’s go!
